Having supervised Ashleigh's clinical work for two years, I believe that she is well qualified in psychotherapy. She practises as a competent independent practitioner with some quite difficult cases involving severe trauma and early developmental issues. Ashleigh begins by making a careful and thorough psychiatric and psychotherapeutic assessment of both the issues and the indications for therapy, articulates a well thought through dynamic formulation and treatment plan and sets about facilitating a therapeutic alliance. Her alertness to transference and countertransference issues, her awareness of the influences of early history and her sound knowledge of trauma theory are constants in her work. Her empathy and warmh, along with her judicious use of humour, play a large part in her effective presence to her clients.

You have received a rating of 'Outstanding Progress' on your recent CPPR. We want to congratulate you on your outstanding effort. You are one of a very few select students who received this evaluation from faculty panelists.

(CPPR is the final Clinical exam with written and oral presaentation of a therapy case, a MPD client I saw weekly for two .years.)

The panel unanimously commend this student for an excellent presentation and for her fine work with this client. Across all six rating categories, we both consistently rated her work with the top two ratings. Her written material was beautifully done. She skillfully wove vivid and almost novel-like case material together with all the factual and conceptual material needed to make a rich  professional document.
Perhaps, in part, as a result of her work experience before coming to CSPP, Ashleigh shows a clinical sophistication that is unusual in a third year student. She is able not only to keep her balance in very disequilibrating work, but also to recognize and describe her own flow of feelings, investments, questions - in sum, to make excellent use of her on-going counter¬transference experience. Her capacity to create, maintain and understand the alliance with the client is evidence of excellent clinical thinking.
We especially enjoyed Ashleigh 's ability to think on her feet about theory. Her enthusiasm, and her capacity to puzzle out ways to consider the case made for a delightful and stimulating interlude in the examination process.
Fine work!
